The Aveyron a region to be discovered | | The department of the Aveyron resumes largely the former province called Rouergue. It is a country of contrast because of its geographical and geologic variety: | - The mountains of Aubrac: mountainous zone of the North Aveyron
- the big limestone plateaus: these calcareous trays, sometimes at a respectable height (beyond 1000m) recover a big part of the department (Levezou, Causse Comtal, Larzac)
- Ségala: relatively rich agricultural zone welcomes farms or the breeding is a king
- rougiers: it is little spread zones or the rock, the earth, as well that houses are red
- valleys: the Lot, the Tarn, the Aveyron, Viaur, are often deep and narrow
|
| | The housing environment of the Aveyron presents a big variety in the modes of construction, the used materials, the place and the organization of villages. The former region ofthe Aveyron counts ten classified villages among " the most beautiful villages of France ", having for some an international reputation (Conques, Najac, Sauveterre) and an impressive quantity of monuments among which twenty four castles of the road of the Lords. | |
